The two devils are trying to carry him off. Luckily for him, this story has a happy ending. Suddenly, Mary appears, dressed in a blue robe with a heavenly crown on her head. She instructs the devils to put the poor man down.

This illustration from the book comes from France and was drawn by Fauvel Master, a very famous painter. It was painted almost 700 years ago. The book was owned by the French royal family for over a century. It ended up in the National Library partly thanks to the Princes of Orange-Nassau. It's still there to this day, tucked away in the safe. And thanks to the National Library, it's ended up on your screen.
